Introduction

TensorCash (TSC) is a Bitcoin Core-derived Layer 1 blockchain that uses Proof of Inference to turn useful AI model inference into the computational work securing the network. Instead of relying on conventional hash-based mining, TensorCash miners perform verifiable forward passes through approved AI models, producing inference proofs that are checked before blocks are accepted.

TensorCash combines AI inference, blockchain settlement, native assets, peer-to-peer financial contracts, and post-quantum spending. The network is designed so that the same GPU computation can serve AI workloads while contributing to block production, creating a direct connection between useful computation and blockchain security.

Project Background

TensorCash is a permissionless blockchain built around verifiable AI inference. Its core concept is Proof of Inference, where miners run approved open-source AI models and generate cryptographic proof material from the inference process. Valid proofs can be submitted as shares or used to produce blocks when they satisfy the network's target.

The network is derived from Bitcoin Core and retains a Bitcoin-style UTXO foundation while adding functionality for AI model registration, inference proofs, native asset issuance, settlement contracts, and post-quantum spending. TensorCash uses a VDF-bound block structure and proof data to connect AI computation with blockchain consensus.

TensorCash's mining system is designed around real model inference rather than an independent hash puzzle. The project's current mining stack integrates inference engines including vLLM and llama.cpp. A forward pass can simultaneously serve an AI request and generate the proof material used for mining.

Proof verification is an independent part of the network architecture. TensorCash provides an open-source verification service that can be operated separately from the miner, allowing participants to verify inference proofs without relying exclusively on the party that generated them.

AI models must be registered and admitted by the network before their proofs can contribute to consensus. The model registration process uses an on-chain commitment and confirmation period, allowing the network to coordinate which model versions are eligible for mining.

TensorCash also includes native asset functionality. Assets can be issued directly on the blockchain and can carry metadata and hash-committed term information. This infrastructure is being used for financial instruments and other programmable on-chain assets without requiring a general-purpose smart contract virtual machine.

The protocol includes native settlement mechanisms for financial transactions, including peer-to-peer swaps and other contract structures. Its coordination layer uses Nostr for discovery, encrypted bilateral sessions for negotiation, adaptor signatures for native scriptless swaps, and HTLC-based settlement for supported EVM-side transactions.

TensorCash also provides a post-quantum spending option based on ML-DSA. A dedicated Witness v2 address type allows users to opt into a post-quantum spending path while retaining conventional ECDSA and Schnorr spending options.

History

TensorCash began as a Bitcoin Core-derived blockchain focused on connecting useful AI computation with blockchain consensus. The project launched in 2026 with the objective of making AI inference verifiable while using that computation to secure an open financial network.

TensorCash mainnet became operational in June 2026. The network initially used AI inference as its mining work, with miners running approved models and submitting proof material to the chain. The project's public documentation identifies June 10, 2026 as the project start date.

The network's early development focused on establishing the Proof of Inference pipeline, including the inference worker, proof generation, verification infrastructure, model registration, and Bitcoin Core-derived consensus implementation.

In July 2026, TensorCash activated TIP-2 and TIP-3 at mainnet block 8,000. TIP-3 introduced proof v3, which cryptographically binds inference proofs to the specific prompt being answered. This links the proof to the exact model execution context used to produce the result.

TensorCash introduced post-quantum spending from block zero through its Witness v2 address type. The implementation uses ML-DSA, standardized as FIPS 204, through liboqs and allows native TSC and issued assets to be held in post-quantum outputs.

In July 2026, the network also demonstrated its native financial asset infrastructure through the issuance and settlement of COMPUTE instruments tied to network difficulty. On July 28, 2026, TensorCash recorded an on-chain peer-to-peer trade in which a COMPUTE asset and TSC were exchanged in the same transaction.

In August 2026, TensorCash entered a new emission phase at block 22,165. The block subsidy changed from 92.664 TSC to 55.5984 TSC, representing a 40% reduction under the project's epoch-based emission schedule.

Development has continued across AI mining, independent verification, native assets, decentralized markets, post-quantum custody, wallet infrastructure, and developer APIs.

Tokenomics and Emissions

TSC is the native coin of the TensorCash network. TensorCash has an implemented maximum supply of approximately 21,184,153.03530240 TSC. The project does not operate a token sale, presale, ICO, IDO, or official investment round. New TSC enters circulation through active mining.

The initial TensorCash block subsidy was 715 TSC. The first emission epoch covered 715 blocks, after which the subsidy decreased by a factor of 3/5. Epoch lengths subsequently increase, eventually reaching a maximum length of 732,160 blocks.

The emission schedule is designed to provide greater rewards during the early stages of network operation, when mining and inference infrastructure are being established. Later epochs become longer while the subsidy declines, producing a progressively lower issuance rate.

The subsidy reaches zero after 48 epochs under the implemented schedule. Transaction fees are separate from the block subsidy and can provide additional miner revenue.

TensorCash targets approximately 600 seconds between blocks. Unlike conventional Proof of Work networks where miners repeatedly calculate hashes, TensorCash miners perform approved AI inference and generate proof material that can satisfy the network's block target.

TSC can be obtained through mining or peer-to-peer transfers. The project states that it does not sell official TSC allocations and that there is no official token sale or presale.

The network also supports native asset issuance. These assets are separate from the native TSC supply and can be used to represent application-specific or financial instruments directly on the TensorCash blockchain.

Roadmap

TensorCash's development direction centers on expanding verifiable AI computation, decentralized financial infrastructure, native assets, post-quantum security, and open developer tooling.

AI mining development includes support for multiple approved models rather than permanently binding consensus to a single model. Model registration is handled through on-chain consensus, allowing new model versions to become mineable after satisfying the network's registration requirements.

The mining infrastructure continues to evolve around vLLM, llama.cpp, proof capture, inference workers, broker services, and independent verification. The architecture allows AI providers to serve user workloads while using the same forward passes as mining computation.

Independent verification remains a major development area. TensorCash provides an open-source verifier and API infrastructure so operators can validate proof material themselves rather than depending on a centralized verification service.

Financial infrastructure is being expanded through native assets, scriptless atomic swaps, peer-to-peer markets, settlement contracts, and the TensorCash coordination layer. Current research includes stablecoins, tokenized securities, repos, forwards, options, and other financial instruments settled through blockchain consensus.

Post-quantum infrastructure is also part of the active protocol stack. ML-DSA-based Witness v2 spending is already available, while continued work focuses on long-lived custody, cryptographic verification, and additional post-quantum capabilities.

Developer infrastructure includes JSON-RPC, REST, ZMQ, FlatBuffer schemas, model registration APIs, verifier APIs, wallet integration, and tools for running nodes and inference providers. These interfaces are intended to allow external applications and services to interact directly with the TensorCash network.
